Sight Reading Factory
Customizable sight-reading and sight-singing exercises.
About
Sight Reading Factory (SRF) is a tool that algorithmically composes new sight-reading and sight-singing exercises on demand, so users always practice fresh material. Its purpose is to make regular sight-reading practice quick and effective for students, teachers, and hobbyist musicians. The app generates rhythmically and harmonically coherent music across multiple difficulty levels that progress through more complex rhythms, larger leaps, wider ranges, and increased accidentals. Exercises can be heavily customized, letting users choose specific rhythms, ranges, leaps, accidentals, dynamics, articulations, time signatures, and any major or minor key. It supports sight reading for over 30 instruments and groups, including voice, piano, guitar, strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion, rhythm-only, and full-ensemble configurations, and can align with national and organizational standards for assessments and auditions. An Auto Assessment feature gives immediate feedback on accuracy, timing, and intonation, while ensemble exercises can be projected for group practice, and teachers can use assignments and recording for evaluation. Practice sessions can be saved to track progress. It is built for students, educators, and all musicians. SRF runs in a web browser on virtually any device, with an additional iOS app, and is offered as a subscription service with free trial access.
