About the piece
A second set of twelve studies, described as salon studies though their difficulty is anything but domestic.
Henselt's influence in Russia was considerable: he taught for decades in St Petersburg and shaped the training of a generation of Russian pianists, and the wide-spanning, richly spaced textures characteristic of Russian piano writing owe something to his example.

Adolf von Henselt
1814–1889
Adolf von Henselt was a German composer and virtuoso pianist. He was a well known composer during his lifetime best known for his Douze Études caractéristiques, which were known for their difficulty. He studied under Johann Nepomuk Hummel and had many notable students of his own. He was also well known for his Piano Concerto in F minor, Op. 16.
