2 Sonatinas, Op.24

Two sonatinas by Anton Diabelli, a composer whose name survives almost entirely through other people's music. As a publisher he issued works by Beethoven and Schubert. In 1819 he sent a waltz of his own composition to fifty composers, inviting each to contribute one variation for a collective volume. Beethoven declined to take part on those terms and instead produced thirty three variations on his own, one of the supreme works of the piano literature.
