Six concert studies by a pianist whose playing was, by contemporary accounts, comparable to Liszt's in power and authority. Rubinstein's historical recital series traversed the entire keyboard literature across seven programmes and became legendary.

Anton Rubinstein
1829–1894
Anton Grigoryevich Rubinstein was a Russian pianist, composer and conductor who founded the Saint Petersburg Conservatory. He was the elder brother of Nikolai Rubinstein, who founded the Moscow Conservatory.
