About the piece

Special studies for the left hand by Theodore Lack, a French pianist and teacher who spent decades at the Paris Conservatoire and produced a large body of teaching material. The left hand's relative weakness is a structural problem in piano writing rather than a personal failing, since it spends most of its life accompanying. Collections like this one, and Moszkowski's Op. 92, exist to correct an imbalance the repertoire itself creates.
