Piano Concerto No.1 in C major, Op.11

Composed in 1810 for Weber's own concert use. He was an accomplished pianist with famously large hands, and his keyboard writing is full of wide-spanning chords and stretches that smaller hands struggle to manage. His piano music occupies an odd position: historically important, idiomatic and brilliant, yet overshadowed almost entirely by his operas, so that a composer central to the Romantic movement is barely represented on modern recital programmes.
