About the piece
The eleventh prelude, a brief, sunlit piece in B major that lasts well under a minute. Its melody skips lightly upward over a simple accompaniment, cheerful and entirely untroubled.
Placed between the tumbling C♯ minor prelude and the driving G♯ minor that follows, it functions almost as a breath of air, which is exactly how the cycle's rapid mood changes are designed to work.
