About the piece
The nineteenth prelude keeps both hands in constant sweeping motion, arpeggios spanning wide intervals at speed while a melody emerges from the top of the texture.
The difficulty is not speed alone but the reach: the hands must cover large distances continuously without the line ever sounding effortful, which makes it one of the more deceptively taxing preludes in the set.
