About the piece
The third of the three waltzes of Op. 64, published in 1847, the last set Chopin saw into print before his death two years later. Its companions are the famous Minute Waltz and the C♯ minor waltz.
Gentler and less showy than either, it moves with an easy grace and a harmonically wandering middle section, and it is the least often played of the three despite being among the most refined.
