iReal Pro is a practice tool for musicians that combines a vast library of editable chord charts with a realistic-sounding virtual backing band. Created by jazz musician Massimo Biolcati for his small team Technimo LLC, the app lets you pull up the changes to a song and play along with an accompaniment that follows you in any style, tempo, or key — at home, in the classroom, or on a gig. You can write, edit, and collect chord charts or download thousands of free charts shared by the community, then organize them into playlists. Backing tracks offer roughly 50 accompaniment styles (Swing, Bossa Nova, Funk, Rock, Bluegrass, Reggae, Latin and more) with customizable instruments and a mixer to adjust or mute parts. Practice features include tempo and key transposition, looping of selected measures, automatic tempo increase, key cycling, and global horn transpositions. It also shows guitar, ukulele, and piano fingerings plus scale suggestions, records your playing, and exports charts as PDF/MusicXML and tracks as audio/MIDI, with iCloud sync. It suits students, teachers, and performing musicians on any instrument. Available on iOS, Android, Mac, and Windows, it is sold as a one-time purchase per platform with no subscriptions, plus optional in-app style packs.
