MuseScore Studio
Free open-source music notation software.
About
MuseScore Studio is free, open-source desktop software for writing, editing, playing back, and exporting music notation. It is a full-featured scorewriter maintained by an active open-source community and is distinct from the MuseScore.com sheet-music sharing and subscription website. The application provides professional notation tools for creating scores for a wide range of instruments and ensembles, with built-in playback so compositions can be heard as they are written. It supports note entry via computer keyboard, mouse, and MIDI keyboard, and exchanges files with other programs through MusicXML, MIDI, and additional formats. Scores can be exported to formats such as PDF and audio, and the software is extensible through plugins. It is available in many languages and runs as a downloadable desktop program. MuseScore Studio is aimed at composers, arrangers, students, teachers, schools, choirs, and orchestras, from beginners to advanced users. It runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux, and can be installed directly or through the MuseHub application. Its pricing model is entirely free: the program is open source with no cost and no usage limitations on the software itself.
