About the piece
A brilliant concert caprice in Spanish style, returning to the idiom that had made Moszkowski's name with the Spanish Dances a decade earlier.
Written for display and unashamed about it, the piece was taken up by touring virtuosos and remained a recital favorite well into the twentieth century, when the taste for such music faded and Moszkowski's reputation faded with it.

1854–1925
Moritz Moszkowski was a German-Polish composer, pianist, and teacher. His brother Alexander Moszkowski was a famous writer and satirist in Berlin.
