A two-piano piece after the finale of a Mozart concerto, part of Busoni's lifelong engagement with reworking earlier music. He held that transcription was a legitimate compositional act rather than a lesser craft, arguing that notation is itself already a transcription of a musical idea, and therefore that every performance and every arrangement is a further translation of something that was never fixed to begin with.
