About the piece
A concert waltz in the tradition Chopin and Liszt had established, written to sparkle rather than to be danced to.
The valse brillante was a fixture of nineteenth century recital programmes and drawing rooms alike, and Moszkowski, with his gift for grateful, well-laid-out piano writing, produced examples that flatter the player as much as they please the listener.

Moritz Moszkowski
1854–1925
Moritz Moszkowski was a German-Polish composer, pianist, and teacher. His brother Alexander Moszkowski was a famous writer and satirist in Berlin.
